Title: per.cycle (2009)
Instrumentation: 2-channel file
Program Notes:
Entrainment, a concept within chronobiology, occurs when rhythmic physiological processes match their period and phase to external environmental oscillations. A common example is the entrainment of awake-sleep rhythms to the daily light–dark cycle. In this piece, cyclic, acceleration and deceleration processes were explored in an attempt to simulate external environmental oscillations in order to entrain patterns within the listener. The primary sound source derives from a recording of a Tibetan singing bowl and is placed in contrast with physically modeled bowl and tube structures.
